A waste plastic collection center was started at the Kelaniya Divisional Secretariat on 03/04/2024 based on the idea of ​​Gampaha District Member of Parliament Mr. Ajith Mannapperuma, Honorary Chairman of the Environment and Sustainability Sectoral Committee, with the aim of appointing the Kelaniya Divisional Secretariat Division as a zero plastic waste division.

Kelaniya Divisional Secretary Mrs. AADC Nadishani Amarasinghe, Assistant Divisional Secretary Mrs. M. Bhagya.M. Athukorala, Assistant Director of Central Environment Authority and others participated in this event and this program is sponsored by Eco spindles...

With the financial support of the Kelaniya Institute of Higher Education, Kelaniya Metropolitan University and the Kelaniya Super chairman  Mr. Kapila and Mrs. Nimali Samaranayake, 100 children from low-income families were donated school books and equipment for the 2025 school year at the Kelaniya Divisional Secretariat on 27.12.2024. This program was successfully carried out under the coordination of Mrs. Manori Prirayangani Silva.

This program was coordinated by Child Rights Promotion Officer Sujeewa Welikumbura under the guidance of Kelaniya Divisional Secretary AADC Nadeeshani Amarasinghe and Assistant Divisional Secretary M. Bhagyada M. Athukorala.

A psychological counseling program on achieving goals was conducted for school children, which was conducted by Kelaniya Counseling Officer Ms. R.M. C. Samudika.

According to the concept of Kelaniya Divisional Secretariat officials, under the guidance of Mrs. Nadishani Amarasinghe, Kelaniya Divisional Secretary, the work of making donations for the needs of Maharagama Apeksha Hospital was carried out on 01.03.2024 at the Donation Management Unit of Apeksha Hospital.
