Under the above Act, an application can be made to the Information Officer referred to in the Act by means of an application bearing RTI 01. Submission of this application is not mandatory.
Request for information
- Submit a written RTI-01 application or a letter of oral request to the Information Officer and obtain a letter of acknowledgement of receipt
- You will be informed as soon as possible, but in any case within 14 days, whether the information requested can be provided
- If the Commission decides to provide you with the information requested, it will inform you if a fee is required to be paid. If a fee is required to obtain the information, the information will be provided to you within 14 days, subject to payment of the fee, or if no fee is required, free of charge
- If it is difficult to provide the information within 14 days after payment of the fee, the Information Officer will provide you with the information you requested within an additional period not exceeding 21 days, stating the reasons for extending the period.
- In cases where the request for information concerns the life and personal liberty of a citizen, the request shall be responded to within 48 hours of receipt of the request.

- . Refusal to accept any request for information,
- . Refusal to provide access to any information on the grounds that the information is exempt from disclosure under Section 5 of the Act
- Failure to comply with the time limits specified in the Act,
- Provision of incomplete, misleading or inaccurate information,
- Charging excessive fees,
- Refusal by the Information Officer to provide information in the form requested,
- The citizen requesting the information has reasonable grounds to believe that the information has been distorted, destroyed or misplaced in order to prevent the citizen from accessing the information,
If the citizen is dissatisfied with the following, he may, within 14 days, appeal to the officer mentioned below: Submit an appeal.
